Dunaliella salina is a microalga that thrives in saline environments and whose most striking quality is that it dyes water pink thanks to its production of carotenoids in symbiosis with other species.
Blue Project
Pyrodinium bahamense is a microalgae of the dinoflagellate genus that inhabits the Atlantic Ocean, especially in some bays of the Caribbean Sea, and is characterized by its bioluminescence.

What is micropowerful?
Micropoderosos is a scientific outreach project about Puerto Rican microscopic organisms using clay as a form of expression. Located in El Bastión , in Old San Juan, it is hosted by the Puerto Rican Association ACirc and funded by the Mellon Foundation. It is being co-created by our team with the participation of the community to foster its richness, inclusion, and sense of mutual belonging.
