On April 2nd, the Puerto Rican press announced the selection of those selected to participate in the artist residencies offered by ACirc at El Bastión in Old San Juan.
As reported in the article, a total of 118 proposals were evaluated, including applications for residencies and cultural workshops.
ACirc's artistic director and co-founder, Maite Rivera Carbonell, highlighted the diversity of themes and disciplines presented this year. This means we'll be joined by a wide variety of artists from the worlds of poetry, dance, circus arts, music, and more.
We feel very proud and feel a great responsibility after reading in the text that: "Among the residencies, the proposal by Jenny Gil Acevedo and Julián Ortega Durán stands out. They will create ceramic sculptures of microorganisms present in Puerto Rico to raise awareness about their importance."
On the other hand, it is noted that these cultural activities are subsidized by the Mellon Foundation , which provides the stipend for artists to develop their proposals.
