Pyrodinium bahamense is a microalgae of the dinoflagellate genus that inhabits the Atlantic Ocean, especially in some bays of the Caribbean Sea, and is characterized by its bioluminescence.

Biekeibacterium resiliens is a bacterium discovered on Vieques that is notable for having survived U.S. bombings and for feeding on the residue from those explosives.

What is micropowerful?
Micropoderosos is a scientific outreach project about Puerto Rican microscopic organisms using clay as a form of expression. Located in El Bastión , in Old San Juan, it is hosted by the Puerto Rican Association ACirc and funded by the Mellon Foundation. It is being co-created by our team with the participation of the community to foster its richness, inclusion, and sense of mutual belonging.
